An anti-wrinkle treatment works by relaxing the facial muscles that causes forehead lines, frown lines and crows feet. Botox provides an elegant softening of expressions lines producing a natural youthful, yet subtle appearance.
This effect lasts for about 6 months. Botox has been safely used in medicine for many years. The procedure is painless. For most people it feels like a small insect bite and normal daily activities can resume immediately afterwards.
Please ring to arrange a consultation to discuss your treatment needs where prices can be fully discussed. Consultations are fully confidential & there will be no obligation to proceed with any treatment. There are no charges for consultations.
Most people are suitable for all treatments but a medical history and discussion of treatment options are necessary to obtain the full benefit of each procedure. We have an After Care Policy whereby an appointment should be made 2 weeks after treatment.
Advice and help will always been given by telephone.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) on Botox
BOTOX® is the commercial trade name for Botulinum Toxin Type A, which is made from Clostridium Botulinum, a bacterium found in nature. In a clinical setting, BOTOX® is used in small doses to treat wrinkles, underarm sweating, chronic migraine, cervical dystonia, strabismus, blepharospasm, and overactive bladder. When injected into muscles, Botulinum Toxin affects the local area. It causes weakness of the muscle around the injection site by blocking transmission from the nerve endings to the muscle fibres.
BOTOX® is used as a non-surgical cosmetic treatment for frown lines if they are of moderate to severe intensity. People aged 18+ are typical users. Nerve transmissions are blocked by BOTOX® and this reduces, temporarily, contraction of facial muscles that are responsible for frown lines. Over the years, BOTOX® injections have increased in popularity as an effective, as well as safe, form of treatment for wrinkles.
Your dentist is the professional who will decide if you are a suitable candidate for BOTOX®cosmetic treatments. The treatment will not begin until your dentist gathers information from you about your health and any medications that you are taking. You must disclose if you suffer from disorders that affect your nerves and muscles, as well as whether you are breastfeeding and whether you plan to become pregnant soon.
The procedure starts with your dentist examining your ability to move certain muscles in your brow area and then determining where to administer the injections. The next step is administering the correct number of minuscule injections of BOTOX® directly into the muscles of your face. The procedure does not require anaesthesia and within 10 minutes, the complete BOTOX® injection procedure will be finished. There may be a minimal and brief amount of discomfort associated with a BOTOX® procedure.
Three to seven days after the injection procedure, there should be a noticeable improvement to the appearance of your frown lines. Results of the treatment do vary from person to person, but we expect the effects to improve your appearance for up to four months. During this period, the effects of your treatment will continuously wear off, and your frown lines will begin to reappear.
The BOTOX® injection procedure may be repeated every four months. Repeated treatments result in muscle thinning. In turn, this repetition yields longer lasting results.
Do not have BOTOX® treatment if you:
have an infection in the area where BOTOX® will be injected
are allergic to any of the ingredients
are pregnant or might be pregnant
have a neurological disorder, such as Myasthenia Gravis
Some medicines may interact with BOTOX®, and these include quinidine and some antibiotics. It is important that you tell your dentist about any medication you are taking.
It is possible you could have a little bruise, but it is easy to cover up with make-up and will fade very quickly.
Once you have filled in the health questionnaire and the paperwork is complete, it only takes a few minutes in the chair for the injections.
It usually takes a few days to kick in and you should see improvement gradually. Your two-week ‘top-up’ will boost the process.
Using the Tray Method, this system consists of a special whitening gel used in conjunction with custom made mouth trays. The gel is very effective at whitening even the darkest of teeth.
This procedure is only performed by a qualified dentist and there will always be a consultation prior to impressions being made.
